Tori DeMoss - "Boys
Only" Training Coach
Tori begins her 6th year with DACA who relocated from high-altitude
training in Boulder, Colorado. Originally from the Bay Area,
Tori grew up on the Tiburon Peninsula where her love for swimming
began at the age of 6 while coached by Ken and Rick DeMont.
She competed in swimming and water polo throughout High School
and was a member of the Indian Valley Aquatics Club then coached
by Pete Raykovich. As a member of Arizona State University
swimming team from 1992-1996, her specialty was 100/200 breaststroke
and 200/400 I.M.. Tori enjoyed success on both the USA Swimming
and Collegiate levels, earning 7 All-American Honors. Her
water polo skills earned her a spot on both the USA Junior
National and National Teams. After college, Colorado was a
great fit for Tori who enjoys hiking, biking, snowboarding
and skiing.
From 1997 to 2002, she was the Head Age Group Coach of
Boulder Swimming and was nominated 4 out of 5 years for
Colorado Age Group Coach of the Year, bringing home that
honor in 1999. Members of her former team, achieved over
40 Individual State Champion titles, broke 19 Colorado Individual
State Records (LSC records) and qualified for over 25 National
Age Group TOP-16 honors. Tori is a nationally recognized
ASCA Level 5 coach, the highest level possible.
Since coaching with DACA, her swimmers have succeeded in
achieving Pacific Swimming Age Group Championship Event
titles (individual and relay), Far Western Event Champion
titles (individual and relay), National Age Group Top-16
honors and have qualified for Zone All-Star, Quad All-Star
and Western Zone Teams. Tori’s swimmers have broken
numerous DACA Team Records, Far Western Meet Records, Pacific
Swimming and National Age Group Records. Tori coached with
Pacific Swimming’s 2002 Western Zone Team in Los Angeles
and 2003 Quad All-Star Team in Reno. She was nominated as
Pacific Swimming's Age Group Coach of the Year in 2005 &
2006. Tori was awarded the James E. "Doc" Counsilman Award for creative coaching at the 2006 ASCA World clinic.
In the 2003-2004 season alone, Tori’s swimmers combined
for over 45 National Age Group TOP-16 honors, 32 Far Western
Event Champions (20 individual and 12 relay), 4 Far Western
Meet Records, 10 Pacific Swimming Records (6 individual
and 4 relay) and 1 National Age Group Relay Record.
