DACA Rocks at Zone 1 North Champs and SCSC Senior!

 

Congrats to all of the DACA Swimmers who competed at Zone 1 North Championships (RESULTS)and the Santa Clara Senior (RESULTS) Meets last weekend (January 28th - 29th). DACA finished 2nd in the Large Teams division at Zone Champs, highlighted by the Championship winning 11 - 12 boys 200 Free Relay and several individual event champions. The Development group attended the Santa Clara Senior Meet, kicking off their 2012 year in style with multiple personal bests and new time standards. DACA National Team Excels at Husky Invite!

 

What a meet!!!
3 days of competition in Federal Way, WA left us with 117 Lifetime Best Times! We are also leaving Husky with 6 NCSA Junior Qualifiers in 29 events! 

And just as important as all the great drops we had individually, we placed 5th in the club division, with some extremely fun friendly competition between many Sierra Nevada and Pacific teams that made the trip. Our relays played a huge roll, and we littered the area behind the blocks every event with cheering and team spirit. WAY TO GO DACA!!!

DACA Age Groupers Rock 14 & Under JO Champs!

 

Congratulations to the 57 DACA Age Group Swimmers who competed at the 14 & Under JO Champs December 2 - 4 in Morgan Hill! It was an excellent meet for DACA, with 148 new personal best times and many new Far Western and PRT standards! Keven Shang led the way for DACA scoring a title in the 100 Breastroke and a 3rd place finish in the 200 Breastroke with a new Sectional Cut. Felix Chiun and Bradley Chen were strong as well, qualifying for Championship Finals in several events. On the girls side, Iris Dong swam into multiple championship finals, finishing 2nd in both the 50 and 100 Breastrokes. Anna Zhou and Yeeling Tse both earned second swims in several events, while Avalon Schultz, Nicholas Burry, and Oscar Khowong all came back for finals for the very first time! WAY TO GO DACA!

SHS Gold Girls Show their DACA Spirit!

 

Gold girls from the Saratoga HS site got their spirit on! Danielle Panconi, with the help of her mom, organized the girl's group to purchase white DACA team shirts so the girls could get together to tie-die the shirts in team colors. One day after practice, the girls decorated the back of their own shirt with each name painted in gold puff paint.  The girls could be seen at the Sunnyvale Halloween Meet sporting their team shirts and team spirit cheering for many of their DACA teammates as they led our club in a sterling team performance. One can see by their expressions that these girls show their spirit and enthusiasm, bonding as a group. Maybe their example can lead our swimmers to joining in on the fun and demonstrating new and creative ways to show how they can make DACA ROCK!

DACA National Team Rocks AH-Davis Tri Meet

Saturday was a fantastic meet for our program, allowing us to gain a ton of valuable race experience, and bringing us even closer as a team. As with any dual/tri meet situation, there is a lot to learn from, there were a ton of races within a short period of time, and as a whole everyone stepped up when it counted and raced hard to the finish! Friendly competitions are always a blast, and Davis did a great job hosting all of us.

DACA Coaching Staff Attends American Swim Coaches Association World Clinic

The DACA Competitive Program was pleased to send the entire Competitive Coaching Staff to the 2011 ASCA World Clinic, held September 8th - 11th in San Diego! While at the clinic, the DACA Staff had the opportunity to interact with professionals from all over the world as well as sit in on lectures from elite level age group, senior, and collegiate coaches. The impressive speakers spoke on varying topics, including swimming technique, workout planning, and dryland activities. It was a great trip for the entire staff, and all look forward to implementing new ideas into the DACA program!

DACA Wraps Up Stellar Summer Season at Sectionals, Nationals, & Far Westerns!

Led by a 2nd place overall finish at Summer Sectionals, DACA wrapped up the 2011 Long Course Season in style! At Sectionals, DACA was led by Erich Peske's title in the 100 Fly and strong relay performances, including a first place finish in the Men's 400 Medley Relay (Casey Fleming, Kevin Khojasteh, Erich Peske, Shayne Fleming). On the women's side, Hayes Hyde placed 2nd in the 100 Fly, while Darcie Anderson picked up a 6th place finish in the 100 Breast and 3rd place finish in the 200 Breast.

Several National Group swimmers then moved on to the National Championships in Palo Alto, where three (Erich Peske - 100/200 Fly, Laurence Delisle - 200 Free/200 Back, Shayne Fleming - 50/100 Free) all qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials. Peske finished 1st in the Bonus Final Heat of the 100 Fly. Emma Drysdale qualified for Nationals in the 100 Fly swimming in a time trial. Following his performance at Nationals, Peske was selected to represent the USA at the World Junior Championships, held August 16 - 21 in Lima, Peru.

The following week at Junior Nationals, DACA's Men's 400 Free Relay of Michael Leung, Casey Fleming, Kevin Khojasteh, and Erich Peske posted a top - 12 finish, capturing 11th.

DACA's Age Group team was equally stellar at Far Westerns. Jeffrey Xu led the charge, winning 5 events and capturing the 10 & Under Boys High Point Title. Ivy Chen, Joyce Lin, and Stefanie Ting were strong for the girls, each finaling in multiple events and teaming up with Ariela Guadiamos to grab the 11 - 12 Girls 400 Medley Relay Title.
