2008-2009 DACA Volunteer Obligation Policy
DACA Swimmers need your help! Each year, DACA ranks among the largest USA Swimming Clubs in the country. As a result, DACA swimmers run the risk of getting shut out of local swim meets. In order to ensure that DACA swimmers have the opportunity to participate in competition, DACA must host swim meets, as well as provide volunteers for additional DACA attended meets. Swim meets do not run without the support of parent volunteers. Without volunteers DACA swimmers do not have the opportunity to compete.
Your willingness to volunteer will have a great impact on your child's athletic environment and love of swimming. There are many opportunities to get involved, including officiating, timing, and swim meet preparation/hosting.
The DACA Volunteer Obligation for the 2008-2009 swimming year (September 08-August 09) is as follows; obligation hours are assigned on a per family basis:
- 15 obligation hours: families with swimmers in the NATIONAL GROUP
- 9 obligation hours: families with swimmers in the WHITE GROUP, BLUE GROUP, GOLD GROUP, SENIOR GROUP, or DEVELOPMENT GROUP
- 6 obligation hours: families with swimmers in the GREEN GROUP, YELLOW GROUP, RED GROUP, ORANGE GROUP, JR. VARSITY GROUP, or VARSITY GROUP
- 0 obligation hours: families with POST GRAD SWIMMERS ONLY
• Families with swimmers whom remain active throughout the 11 month swimming year may serve their volunteer obligation at any time within the swim year.
**The volunteer obligation is asked of ALL DACA MEMBERS, irrespective of a
swimmer's participation in swim meets**
Families Enrolling Mid-Season or Inactivating Mid-Season
The Swimming year is broken into 3 periods
Period 1 – September 08 through December 08 (1/3 of Hour Obligation)
Period 2 – January 09 through March 09 (1/3 of Hour Obligation)
Period 3 – April 09 through August 09 (1/3 of Hour Obligation)
Families withdrawing from DACA WILL BE RESPONSIBLE for hours still not served, proportional to the number of periods spent as DACA Members during the 2008-2009 season. Hours left incomplete will be billed at the rate of $50.00 per hour.
EXAMPLES:
A swimmer who participates in the Green Group September through November and withdraws from the program in December will be responsible for Period 1 Volunteer Obligation Hours (2 Hours).
A swimmer in the Blue Group who begins participation in November (Period 1) and swims through February (Period 2), will be responsible for both Period 1 and Period 2 Volunteer Obligation Hours (6 hours)
Families with Multiple Swimmers
Volunteer obligation hours are assigned on a per family basis
Volunteer obligation hours for families with multiple swimmers are based upon the swimmer participating in the highest level group.
EXAMPLE: A family with 1 swimmer in the Yellow Group and 1 swimmer in the Gold Group will have a volunteer obligation of 9 hours.
Volunteering and Group Move-Ups
When a swimmer is moved from one group to another, the family is responsible for the volunteer requirement of the swimmer's new group
EXAMPLE: If a swimmer is moved from the Yellow Group to the White Group, the family volunteer obligation will increase from the 6 hours required for Yellow Group Families to the 9 hours required for White Group Families.
